Middlesex Pride is a community-led organisation celebrating the diverse LGBTQIA+ people of Middlesex. Our annual family-friendly, free, Pride event is the first of its kind, a centrepiece of a wider, year-round program of works to make our communities visible, creating a safe space where we can be ourselves. We are building solidarity across communities here and showing that Middlesex is a place to be proud of.

About Middlesex

Middlesex is historically diverse, made up of different faith groups, including Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and Hindu communities; and ethnically diverse, with Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Afghani, Somali, African-Caribbean, Eastern European, and other communities that are typically underrepresented in the UK and in LGBTQIA+ spaces. These are the people we represent and the voices we platform.

Where is Middlesex?

Back in the 1800s, Middlesex was formed, alongside counties Sussex and Essex. It included a large area of East and North London, most of what is now known as ‘Greater’ or ‘Central’ London. Due to gentrification and housing prices, ‘Middlesex’ was removed, and ‘London’ was inserted into addresses, until Middlesex no longer existed. In fact, it was a formal postal county, used until 1996 — the map below is the last known official usage of the term ‘Middlesex’ for governmental purposes.
